We hope everyone has a peaceful, safe and happy Christmas.
We look forward to seeing you all when we return in the new year! We have been so busy lately enjoying lots of Christmas festivities! Please head over to our Facebook page to take a look at all the action!
Galway City Council Band Grant:
Scoil Róis is delighted to acknowledge the generous funding received from the Galway City Council for the Scoil Róis Traditional Group, which enables the purchase of new instruments and aids greatly in the development of traditional music in our school. Míle Buíochas! We are very excited about our Christmas Open Afternoon next week on the 18th of December. We look forward to seeing those of you who can come!
Last week Rang 5 and Rang 6 enjoyed taking part in the Olympic Handball Tournament in Knocknacarra Community Centre, Cappagh Park.
Our boys and girls played with great heart and determination and did themselves and Scoil Róis proud. This week our girls competed in the city finals and after winning 4 matches they are now going forward to the county finals. We are so proud of you all, well done everyone! 6th class enjoyed a tour of 'Galway Atlantaquaria' today and took part in a workshop designing a suitable fish tank for an octopus, sea bass and rays. This was part of the Galway Science & Technology Festival.
Our November Remember Tree!
Pupils throughout the school are writing the names of those they would like to remember, or think of during the month of November on name tags before hanging them on the tree. Senior Infants enjoyed adding their tags to the tree today! We had a very busy time at this year's Cake Sale.
Last week we held our annual Cake Sale. We raised €1,605 for COPE and had the best morning ever! Thank you so much to everyone for all of your donations, baking and for putting so much effort into all of the pupil's amazing costumes. As always we really appreciate all of your support and enthusiasm. Head over to our Facebook page to see more photos from this special day! Well done to the boys and girls who represented Scoil Róis at the Cross Country Championships recently in Renmore.
Well done in particular to Katie and Matilda who made it through to the final. We were very proud of you all! Congratulations to Annabel and Sadie who received prizes today for their entries in Galway's RNLI 200 Year Anniversary Competition. Well done girls, we are very proud of you both!
3rd Class were busy this week with their lava lamp experiments- they were creating CO2 to extinguish flames!
We enjoyed taking part in the Mini 7's competition in 'The Prairie' last week. As always, the boys played with great pride and determination.
They represented Scoil Róis so well! Rang 6 really enjoyed their Historical Walking Tour of Galway.
They visited the Spanish Arch, Galway Museum, Kirwan's Lane, Hall of the Red Earl, Lynch's Castle and Browne's Doorway. This week we said goodbye to our wonderful 6th Class pupils. We are so proud of each of you and will miss you all very much!
Everyone in the Scoil Róis family wishes you the best of luck as you move on to a new and exciting chapter. |
