Scoil Róis Mini Olympic Handball teams outdid themselves in Cappagh Park this week as they represented our school in the County Finals. We are so proud to report that our U11 girls and our U 13 girls teams have qualified for the All Irelands which will be played at the end of April in Gormanstown. They played their hearts out and we are so proud of them. Our boys U11 also did their best but it wasn’t their day. We are also so proud of them for reaching a County Final. Congratulations to their coaches and all involved 👏👏👏 The pupils of Scoil Róis have been enjoying celebrations for World Book Day all week.

It all started with a dot!
Take a look at our beautiful new school mural. Each child in the school contributed ‘a dot’ to this special piece of art inspired by Peter H.Reynolds’ ‘The Dot’, a story that encourages children to see just how creative they can be! A very happy Christmas from everyone in Scoil Róis. We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year on January 5th. 🎄
Scoil Róis has been very busy this past month between Nativity Plays, carol services, Christmas jumper day and more!

Fourth class had the great opportunity to step on board a traditional Galway Hooker in the Claddagh. The pupils also learned about boat making and even got to sample some local seafood in this very historic part of our special city. A big thank you to all involved in the Galway Docklands Festival for inviting us to this very interesting and memorable event. Well done to everyone who took part in our Junior and Senior World Cup tournaments. Many of our students showed so much talent, skill and sportsmanship throughout, but most importantly the boys and girls had a great time playing and watching all of the matches. In our Junior World Cup our winners were Argentina with Joey as captain, our runners up were Portugal with Gustav as captain and in 3rd place we had England with Jake as their captain. In our Senior World Cup our winners were France with Praise as their captain, in 2nd place we had the Netherlands with Chike as captain and in 3rd place we had Wales with Niamh as their captain. We had the pleasure of presenting special achievement awards to some of our players during the Junior and Senior World Cup Tournaments.
Joey received the Player of the Tournament award for the Junior World Cup while Praise received the award for the Senior World Cup. Ruairí received the Best Sportsperson Award for the Junior World Cup while Chike received the award for the Senior World Cup. Jimmy took home an award for the highest number of goals scored in any match and our ‘Goalkeeper of the tournament’ award was given to Daniel Ehiedu. A big thank you to Mr O’Flaherty for arranging the Junior and Senior World Cup tournaments, and thank you to the students from our senior classes who helped to referee matches. |
