EAL Students (English as a second language students):

Our EAL teachers have passed on some guidance for parents. The theme for the next two weeks that teachers have suggested focusing on are
1. Transport
2. Travel
Websites that are useful for assisting EAL students are Twinkl and eslgamesplus which have lots of worksheets and activities for the children to try.

The most important thing to remember for the EAL students is that using vocabulary is key.Try thinking about the words they already know as well finding vocabulary in their homes, outside etc. that you can teach them that are connected to the theme.

Hi everyone, just a few more details regarding accessing some of the recommended websites.

CJ Fallon:
CJ Fallon is currently giving parents access to all of their online resources including ebooks of some the children’s books, including Céim ar Chéim and Busy at Maths. Follow these instructions to be able to access these ebooks.

Link to the CJ Fallon Website:

www.cjfallon.ie

1. On the CJ Fallon home page you will see a yellow box saying ‘Important Notice’. Select ‘click here’ which will bring you to all available ebooks.
2. Select the appropriate class level and if you like the book you are looking for under ‘resources’ at the top of the page.
3. To the far right of the book selections you will see the ‘Actions’ column. Click the blue eye button which will bring you your ebook.
4. Enter your details and the book should open for you.

Tip: Follow the route outlined here to find ebook resources as opposed to using the ‘search resources’ option in the top right corner, as this will often bring you to a ‘book sample’ option not the ebook resource, you will not be able to view the book in this case.

Folens Online
To gain access to the Folens resources follow these instructions:

1. Go to FolensOnline.ie and click register
2. Select ‘Teacher’
3. Fill in username, email and password
4. For ‘Roll Number’ use the code: Prim20

Gain access to the Folens Online website below:

There are many fantastic resources and websites available that may help you assist your children at home, some of the activities available are just as good for practicing their skills as any workbook! The teachers have come up with a list of some you may like to use, so feel free to choose any topics and websites you like.

Good morning everyone, we hope you are doing well! The teachers felt that seeing as some parents and children may be unsure how to plan their day during these unusual times, a suggested timetable might help.

Please do not feel obligated or pressured to follow this timetable, this is simply a suggestion for those who felt they would like some guidance. Some of you may already have a plan of action for the day that already works for you, that’s great! The most important thing to the teachers is that the children have a bit of normality to their days to prevent stress and worry, so feel free to use/change this schedule in any way you like, or to ignore it completely.

Future posts and updates to follow regarding tasks and ideas for the children in the coming days.
